This is what a proud, happy team looks like

Five articulated lorries set off for the façade – fully loaded with LivingPANELS, energy and more than a little anticipation. And right in the middle of it all: a team that knows exactly why it does what it does.

Moments like this capture what Vertiko is all about: not just delivering plants to a building site, but working together to help make cities more liveable – in this case, on the façade of a data centre.

Every project is a team effort, from planning through logistics to on-site support. And once everything is loaded and ready to go, it’s fair to feel a little proud.

Five articulated lorries, a lot of dedicated colleagues and one shared goal: bringing more green into the city. That’s exactly what Vertiko stands for – solutions that make a real difference, and people who believe in them wholeheartedly.

Projects

A school that grows with its pupils – and grows green

Last autumn, 5,000 plants found their new home on the façade of Friedrich-List-Schule in Ulm. Pre-grown in Vertiko substrate, they were established across 140 m² of façade, giving them a solid foundation for healthy development.

Greening that shapes everyday life

It’s now wonderful to see the results: the plants have flourished, and the façade has visibly come to life.

This is especially valuable at a school, where people learn, work and meet one another every day. Here, façade greening is more than a design feature. It helps to noticeably improve outdoor comfort and eases the building’s thermal load. Through evaporation and heat absorption, plants on the building envelope can have a positive effect on the surrounding microclimate.

A solid foundation for healthy growth

The fleece-substrate system was installed on the substructure supplied by our partner PRO+. Together, this combination provides a stable base for healthy, resilient plant development. Installation of the LivingWALL PLUS was carried out by Karok Gartengestaltung und Landschaftsbau GmbH.

ClimbingBASE now with structural system certification

ClimbingBASE gains structural system certification: greater planning certainty for climbing plant façades

An important milestone for Vertiko: our stainless steel climbing trellis, ClimbingBASE, now comes with a certified structural system. This provides a reliable basis for planning and structurally integrating climbing greenery in demanding construction projects.

After all, climbing greenery needs to do more than look good. For it to perform reliably over the long term, it also needs a safe, well-engineered construction. The new structural system makes it easier for planners to integrate ClimbingBASE and provides greater certainty in both design and execution.

At the same time, ClimbingBASE has been substantially enhanced. The result is a flexible climbing trellis system that accommodates varying requirements for load transfer, plant support and installation.

Key enhancements at a glance:

Structural system for greater planning certainty

ClimbingBASE now comes with a reliable structural basis. This simplifies planning and supports the safe integration of the climbing trellis into demanding projects.

Optimised trellis geometry for higher load capacity

The folded trellis geometry allows for higher load capacity while also improving plant grip on the structure.

Greater flexibility in load transfer

ClimbingBASE can be anchored directly into the ground via point foundations. Alternatively, a wall-mounted version with load transfer via brackets is also available. This allows the climbing trellis to be adapted more flexibly to different structural situations.

Stainless steel construction for lasting solutions

ClimbingBASE is made from stainless steel and designed for durable, functional performance. Fire protection requirements can also be factored into the planning process.

An important step forward for planning climbing greenery

With its structural system certification and constructional enhancements, ClimbingBASE now offers even greater safety and flexibility for planning. We’re pleased to take this further step towards reliably integrating climbing greenery into architecture.

SUSTAINABILITY, IMPACT & INSIGHTS

Why do our plants cope with winter so well?

Because they have a quiet talent that’s barely visible from the outside: in winter, they become true energy-saving experts. While everything outside rests beneath a blanket of snow, plants switch into their own dormant mode – low demand, little movement, but full preparation for spring.

This is clearly visible across our pre-cultivation areas: a gentle, white expanse, almost entirely covered in snow. In several places, green shoots peek through – a clear sign that life continues underneath.

Minimal consumption

In winter, plants lose almost no water through evaporation, allowing them to withstand dry, frosty spells without stress.

Energy-saving mode

Their metabolism slows right down, protecting them from frost damage.

Natural insulation

The snow cover acts like a warming blanket, stabilising the temperature around the root zone.

Quiet preparation

Our pre-cultivation areas give plants exactly the protected conditions they need to come through winter stronger.
